The main points
We collect only what supports the site
This may include information you submit, technical security logs, consent choices, analytics data and affiliate-link attribution.
Non-essential measurement depends on consent
Where consent is required, analytics or similar non-essential technologies should not be activated until the visitor makes a choice.
We do not sell personal information for money
We may share limited information with service providers, analytics services or affiliate partners for the purposes described below.
You may have privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to request access, correction, deletion or other controls over personal information.
Information we may collect
Different interactions create different data
Information you provide
If you contact Project Torii, we may receive your name, email address, message, the page involved and any other information you choose to provide.
Technical and security data
Servers and security services may process IP address, browser and device information, requested URLs, timestamps, referrer information and events related to security or abuse prevention.
Analytics and consent data
If permitted by the visitor’s consent choice, Google Analytics 4, implemented through Site Kit by Google, may process page views, site interactions, approximate location, device category, browser information and pseudonymous identifiers. CookieYes records the visitor’s selected cookie categories in the browser and communicates those choices to compatible WordPress plugins through WP Consent API.
Affiliate attribution data
When you follow an affiliate link, the provider or affiliate network may process a link identifier, click time, source page, destination and information needed to attribute a qualifying purchase.
Project Torii does not intentionally place names, email addresses, contact-message text, booking numbers or similar directly identifying information into analytics event parameters or affiliate link identifiers.
How we use information
We use data for defined purposes
- to provide, maintain and display the website
- to respond to questions, correction requests and privacy inquiries
- to protect the site, investigate abuse and maintain security
- to understand site performance and improve useful content, where permitted
- to measure outbound and affiliate-link activity without intentionally including directly identifying information
- to maintain consent records and respect visitor choices
- to comply with legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, that basis may be consent, our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site, steps taken in response to your request, or compliance with a legal obligation. The applicable basis depends on the activity and jurisdiction.
Cookies and measurement
Essential functions and optional measurement are separated
The site may use essential cookies or similar storage for security, core functionality and consent settings. Where required, analytics and other non-essential technologies should remain inactive until you consent.
When you leave Project Torii by following a third-party or affiliate link, the destination provider may set its own cookies or use other tracking technology under its own privacy policy and terms.
You can review cookie categories and available controls in our Cookie Policy. Where a cookie-settings control is provided, you can use it to change a previous choice.
Service providers and sharing
Limited information may be processed by providers that support the site
Depending on the feature and current configuration, these providers may include:
Infrastructure and security
Xserver may provide hosting and backup functions. Cloudflare may provide DNS, content delivery, traffic management and security services.
Analytics and site measurement
Google Analytics 4, implemented through Site Kit by Google, supports consent-based measurement of site usage. Google Search Console supports search-performance monitoring and site management. These Google services may process limited technical and usage information as described in this policy and their own privacy documentation.
Affiliate providers and networks
When you follow an affiliate link, the destination provider or network may process information needed for referral and purchase attribution.
Communication and operational providers
CookieYes displays the consent interface and stores the visitor’s selected cookie categories in the browser. WP Consent API communicates those choices to compatible WordPress plugins. Contact-form, email, maintenance or backup providers may process limited information needed to perform their services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or security, or as part of a merger, sale, transfer or reorganization of the website or its operating assets. A receiving party would be expected to handle personal information consistently with applicable law.
International processing
Information may be processed outside your country
Project Torii is operated from Japan, and some service providers may process information in other countries. Privacy laws and government-access rules may differ from those in your location.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we rely on the relevant provider arrangements or other lawful transfer mechanisms available for that service.
Retention and security
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed
Retention depends on the type of information, why it was collected, provider settings, security needs and legal requirements. Google Analytics 4 event and user data are configured to be retained for 14 months. Analytics cookies may remain for up to 2 years after consent, subject to browser settings and renewal. Contact records may be retained while a request is handled and for an appropriate recordkeeping period. Technical logs, consent information and affiliate data follow the relevant operational or provider retention settings.
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No website, transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your rights and choices
Available rights depend on your location
Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have the right to:
- request access to personal information associated with you
- ask us to correct inaccurate information
- request deletion or restriction in certain circumstances
- object to certain processing
- withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing
- request data portability where the right applies
- complain to an appropriate privacy or data-protection authority
To make a request, use the Project Torii contact page and state that your message concerns privacy. We may need information sufficient to verify the request and locate relevant records. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
You can also use available cookie settings or browser controls. Blocking some essential storage may affect site functionality.
Children and external sites
Additional boundaries
Children’s privacy
Project Torii is intended for people planning travel decisions and does not knowingly seek personal information from children. A child should use contact features only with the involvement of a parent or guardian where required.
Third-party websites
Links may lead to websites operated by other organizations. Their privacy practices, security and terms are their responsibility, so review the destination site’s policies before providing information.
Policy updates
We may revise this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when site features, providers, legal requirements or data practices change. The updated version will appear on this page with a revised date. If a change materially affects how information is used, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
